“Our community enjoys learning, not for the credentials but for the value of knowledge.”
It was a courageous decision when Murry Perlmutter and her late husband Jerry decided to move to The Forest at Duke with no family or friends to tie them to the area. But with a long history of collaboration and creating partnerships in their work and personal lives, they both felt that the welcoming residents they met while touring could quickly become their community. After being a resident for two years, Murry decided to start giving back to her community by becoming chair of the Diversity Committee within The Forest at Duke. Tasked with creating and executing a diversity plan, Murry has a deep gratitude for the experience and feels a sense of pride for the commitment and effort put forth by her friends and neighbors towards an enhanced community.
