Reaching Out

The community benefits we provide extend well beyond our campus. With resident and corporate participation, The Forest takes seriously its commitment to social responsibility and leadership. We seek opportunities to be engaged in our community and give back.

Throughout the year, local non-profits are assisted with cash, in kind, and corporate and resident involvement. Annually more than 64,000 resident volunteer hours benefit local schools, churches, Duke hospitals and over 50 other local service organizations. From collecting and delivering magazines to prisons, to tutoring children and delivering meals, residents generously give of themselves and their resources to the betterment and benefit of our neighbors in the Durham community.

We encourage and support our staff too in representing the organization and enjoy working side by side with residents on special projects.

Corporate outreach includes financial support to the Durham Council for Senior Citizens, the Durham Center for Senior Life, the Senior PharmAssist program, Project Compassion, RSVP, Rogers Herr Middle School, the American Red Cross, Durham Urban Ministries, and others. Facility spaces, food services, building materials, and furnishings are regularly donated for the use of numerous community organizations.
